Hew is a vital and highly experienced member of our team, having founded both our practices. We are fortunate to have his skills and expertise. In particular, Hew enjoys the challenge of restorative dentistry, especially crown and bridge work. Sleep dentistry (helping patients who snore or have possible sleep apnoea) is a particular interest. In 2009, Hew’s wider contributions to dentistry and healthcare were recognised with the award of a CBE in the New Year’s Honours.
Outside of work, Hew enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and in the outdoors, especially when he gets the chance to go trout fishing.

Roddy has been at our practice since 2005 and in that time, he has helped us become the best team possible. The variety of challenges that every day brings make working at St John’s Road and East Craigs all the more rewarding. Roddy enjoys the problem solving nature of being a dentist and being part of a friendly, caring team.
Roddy regularly plays five-a-side football. He’s also a member of a local golf club and enjoys mountain biking in the Pentlands. In the winter months, he always aspires to get a few days’ worth of skiing and in the summer, he likes to climb some Munros.

Having spent the first stage of her career as a scientist, Victoria then completed her dental degree at the UK’s first graduate dental school. Following a postgraduate training post in general practice, Victoria worked in general practice in North East Scotland before moving to Edinburgh.
Victoria particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry – sending patients home with a smile – and likes helping nervous patients feel more comfortable.
Walking her large dog keeps Victoria fit and she enjoys exploring Scotland with her partner in their campervan.

Alison has been part of our team at St John’s Road since 2003. Her favourite part of the job is that each day brings a new challenge. She enjoys preventative and family dentistry, helping all members of the family to get the oral care they need to keep their natural smiles for longer. Alison is also particularly skilled in denture work and takes on our most challenging cases.
Alison likes to keep active outdoors, walking, hill running, Munro bagging and orienteering. When she’s not hiking or running, she loves spending time with her family and singing.

Louise joined the practice in 2006 after spending two years in specialist training. In addition to the wide range of skills that she brings to NHS work, Louise has a particular interest in cosmetic treatments and orthodontics. Having also obtained qualifications in Aesthetics, Louise now provides facial aesthetics treatments for our patients.
In her spare time, Louise loves spending time with her husband and two children.

Laura has been part of our team since 2015. Prior to joining our Practice, Laura spent 2 years working as a dentist in Australia and worked elsewhere in the Lothians. She enjoys treating nervous patients, helping them on their journey to overcoming their fears and receiving the dental care they need. Laura also particularly enjoys the hands-on approach to smile makeovers and then seeing patients’ reactions to the results. She loves treating families and seeing the younger patients growing up.
When she’s not in the practice, Laura is often found in the kitchen. She loves cooking and baking, while trying to be kind to her teeth! Laura also loves to travel and visit friends and family in her native Ireland.

Tim worked in the Grampian area for many years before moving to Edinburgh and joining our Practice. Tim very much enjoys meeting the treatment needs of his patients and the fact that as a dentist, every day is different.
Away from the practice, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, children and dog. He is also an enthusiastic member of a brass band, in which he plays the trombone and can often be found playing in concerts and competitions all over the country.

Following additional training in general practice, Sophie joined the St John’s Road Practice in 2016. She enjoys getting to know her patients, seeing all generations of the same family in some cases. Sophie particularly enjoys working with patients to improve their oral health.
Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with family in Aberdeenshire and keeping fit.

Carole has been with our team at East Craigs for almost 30 years. In that time, Carole has got to know her patients really well and often treats their whole family. When treating patients, she always keeps a strong focus on prevention and routine care.
Outside of work, Carole is a keen cyclist and enjoys the many long bike rides that the surrounding area offers. She enjoys spending time with family and going for long walks with their Labrador.

Caroline has been a part of our team at East Craigs for over 10 years and enjoys working as a general dentist, loving the variety that each day brings. As well as being fantastic with the children who visit the practice, Caroline likes helping nervous patients to relax, creating a calm and stress-free atmosphere in her surgery.
Much of Caroline’s free time is spent with her husband and three children, especially enjoying time outdoors. She has a passion for music, playing the piano, ukulele and attending gigs when she has the opportunity.

Emma has worked at East Craigs since 2004, helping our patients to feel confident about their smiles. Emma’s favourite aspect of her role is carrying out restorative treatment such as white fillings, crowns and bridge work, making a visible difference to smiles.
Her two young children take up much of her free time, but when she finally gets a moment to herself, she enjoys unwinding with a good book.

Mary particularly enjoys helping patients become more comfortable about dental treatment. Mary wants to help improve the health and appearance of all her patients’ smiles, whether just with something simple or with more complex treatment.

Suzanne’s love of meeting and being with people reflects her interests outside of work as she loves socialising with her friends and enjoys going to Pilates classes.

Alaa joined our team in 2018 after practising general dentistry in the North East coast of Scotland and loves being a dentist. Her role involves many rewarding moments with patients, but her favourite aspect of being a dentist is giving someone back their smile.
Alaa makes the most of every free moment, using the time to explore the beautiful surrounding landscapes and scenery. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking and going to the gym.

Kevin enjoys all aspects of dentistry especially working with children and putting anxious patients at ease. He particularly enjoys getting to know his patients and strives to give them the best care at all times.

Alan joined the practice after working in New Zealand for 2 years and prior to that he worked in the west of Scotland. He enjoys all aspects of family dentistry and in particular ensuring his anxious patients feel at ease.
Outside of dentistry, Alan loves the outdoors, especially hiking. He also loves cooking but more so the eating that comes afterwards!

The most rewarding part of her job is giving patient's back their confidence by restoring their smile. When caring for patients, Alex has a strong focus on preventive care and maintenance of oral health. The variety that each day brings in a busy practice makes the job worthwhile. She enjoys working as part of a friendly, caring team.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys climbing Munros and travelling to see the beautiful scenery Scotland has to offer. When not outdoors Alex loves to bake, especially for her friends and family. A Mary Berry wannabe at heart! Alex will always make time to visit her family back in Northern Ireland and spend time with her Springer Spaniel.
